Adapters & integrations

pi ACP

Thin community bridge between ACP and pi's RPC interface. It is an adapter, not an independent coding agent.

Overview

Research summary

pi ACP is a community bridge, not the Pi Coding Agent itself. An ACP client such as Zed starts the adapter over stdio; the adapter then launches Pi in RPC mode and translates requests, streamed model output, tool calls, tool updates, and session events between the two protocols. It can attach file locations and structured edit diffs when Pi provides enough information, and it maintains a small mapping so ACP clients can reconnect to Pi's own session files.

Pi skills and selected slash commands are surfaced through the client, while authentication is delegated to a terminal-based Pi setup flow. The adapter is explicitly described as MVP-style and primarily developed against Zed, so compatibility with other ACP clients may vary. It does not implement ACP filesystem or terminal delegation: Pi accesses files and executes commands locally.

MCP configuration received through ACP is retained in session state but is not directly wired into Pi. The adapter is MIT-licensed; models, providers, and actual coding behavior come from the separately installed Pi agent.
