Current Moonshot coding harness and successor to the older Kimi CLI, with a new TypeScript implementation.
Overview
Research summary
Kimi Code supersedes the older Python Kimi CLI that is already cataloged separately. The new TypeScript project carries forward repository exploration, editing, command execution and agentic development while becoming the current provider-recommended harness for Kimi coding models. Keeping both entries makes the transition explicit and prevents the older, winding-down CLI from being mistaken for the active implementation.
The transition from the older Kimi CLI is itself useful evidence of how quickly harness architecture changes as model capabilities and integration expectations evolve. The newer repository should be treated as the active implementation when comparing current runtime choices, while the older entry remains valuable for historical continuity. Studying both can reveal which abstractions survived the rewrite and which were replaced, especially around context construction, editor connectivity and the interface between provider-specific behavior and generic coding tools.
