Data & context

Weaviate

Objects, vectors and hybrid retrieval with explicit community and commercial enterprise scopes.

Overview

Research summary

Weaviate stores objects alongside vectors and supports retrieval that combines semantic similarity with structured constraints and keyword search. Integrations can connect embedding and generative-model providers, while clients access the database through supported APIs. The current repository contains BSD-3-Clause Community Edition code and a separate wl directory of commercially licensed Enterprise Edition features.

Distributed binaries combine those components, and enterprise features require a license key. Weaviate Cloud is an additional managed offering. These scopes matter when evaluating the project as open-source retrieval infrastructure.
