Wave Terminal
A terminal application combining shell sessions, file previews, editing and an integrated AI assistant, with local and remote development workflows.
Overview
Research summary
Wave Terminal combines a conventional terminal with a graphical workspace for files, previews, editors, and assistant interactions. Developers can work with local or remote shell sessions while keeping contextual tools in the same application. Its AI features can consume relevant terminal or file information and connect to configured model providers, including supported local-model setups.
The application remains a developer workspace rather than a fully autonomous coding agent, and the reviewed README distinguishes available assistant capabilities from command execution that is still described as forthcoming. Remote connections and model requests follow the operator’s configuration, so local installation alone does not imply that all context remains on the device. The project uses Go alongside its frontend implementation and is Apache 2.0 licensed.
External model services and remote hosts require their own authorization.
