Overview
Research summary
TruLens combines application instrumentation with evaluation functions that score individual steps and complete AI workflows. Teams can run evaluations as traces arrive or replay datasets to compare versions of an application. Its OpenTelemetry-native tracing makes the resulting telemetry portable to compatible backends, while feedback functions support RAG and agent quality checks such as groundedness and relevance. The MIT-licensed Python project provides a way to identify failures and assess cost-quality tradeoffs within an existing application rather than supplying an agent framework or a hosted inference engine.
