Workflow automation

Temporal

Durable execution records workflow progress and supports recovery across worker and service failures.

Overview

Research summary

Temporal coordinates long-running application workflows through durable execution. Developers write workflow and activity code with supported SDKs while the Temporal service persists execution history and coordinates retries and recovery. This is useful around unreliable external services, human waiting periods and multi-step AI processes that need reliable progress tracking.

The core server is written in Go and published under the MIT license. Applications can operate their own Temporal service or use the separately governed Temporal Cloud offering. This entry describes the execution platform rather than a model provider or a specific agent framework.
