Research summary
sttp-ai combines Scala clients for OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and compatible endpoints with building blocks for tool-using agents. Applications can describe requests and responses with sttp, consume model output through integrations with fs2, ZIO, Akka Streams, Pekko or Ox, and use structured output to connect model responses to application types. The project also provides MCP support and an agent test kit for exercising agent behavior without paid model calls.
Its provider and streaming modules belong to one toolkit; their Maven artifacts and Scala cross-builds are not separate products. It is useful for teams that want LLM features within an existing Scala application and its chosen concurrency model.
