Overview

Research summary

Stakpak targets infrastructure tasks such as generating Terraform and deployment configuration, debugging Kubernetes, configuring CI/CD, and operating cloud tooling. Its terminal interface can run interactively, while Autopilot provides scheduled or message-triggered background sessions using named profiles that define models, tools, prompts, approval policy, and turn limits. The agent indexes infrastructure-oriented files and supports long-running commands, progress streaming, subagents, reversible file operations, and organization-specific rulebooks.

Security controls documented by the project include substituting secrets before model access, privacy redaction, network-level Warden policies, and mutual TLS for MCP connections. Stakpak can expose its tools as an MCP server, proxy external MCP servers, or connect to editors through ACP. It accepts Stakpak credentials, direct provider keys, or custom OpenAI-compatible local endpoints.

Autopilot and sandbox deployments require Docker and appropriate host resources and permissions. The Rust source is published under Apache-2.0, but external model services, cloud accounts, and infrastructure commands retain their own access and licensing requirements.
