Overview
Research summary
Pipecat orchestrates the moving parts of real-time conversational applications: audio and video streams, speech recognition, language models, speech synthesis and network transports. Developers compose processors into pipelines and select integrations for the providers and communication systems they need. The framework also supports agent coordination patterns such as specialist handoffs and parallel work over a shared bus.
It is useful for assistants, voice interfaces and multimodal conversational systems that must handle incremental output and interaction timing. Pipecat is maintained by Daily and its community under BSD-2-Clause; individual connected cloud services have separate credentials and costs.
