Research summary
MMDetection provides a configurable toolbox for object detection and related instance-level vision tasks. It assembles reusable components for datasets, model architectures, training and evaluation, supported by a model zoo and documented experiment configurations. Researchers can compare implementations under a shared framework, while developers can adapt an existing detector to a custom dataset.
The modular configuration approach makes model components and experiment settings explicit instead of fixing a single detection architecture. MMDetection is part of OpenMMLab and uses Apache-2.0; datasets and pretrained checkpoints carry their own provenance and conditions.
