MCP Go (mark3labs)

A community-maintained Go MCP implementation with high-level server handlers, client support and session-aware extension points.

Overview

Research summary

MCP Go from mark3labs is a Go SDK for building clients and servers that speak the Model Context Protocol. Server code can register tools, resources and prompt templates with typed protocol structures and handlers. The library handles transport and session details, with documented support for stdio, SSE and Streamable HTTP, along with request hooks, middleware and per-session tool configuration.

Developers can therefore expose application capabilities without implementing the protocol messages themselves. It is a separately maintained implementation rather than the official modelcontextprotocol/go-sdk, and support for advanced protocol features evolves with the specification. The package is distributed as github.com/mark3labs/mcp-go and its source code is MIT licensed.
