It is intended to be embedded in a product or service rather than treated as one fixed autonomous coding assistant. Developers choose the providers, application state, tool behavior, and deployment architecture around the framework.

The repository’s license needs component-level interpretation: content outside the documented exceptions is Apache 2.0, but directories named ee contain Enterprise Edition features under separate terms. The reviewed enterprise license permits internal development and testing while requiring a written agreement for production use; it also restricts redistribution. Accordingly, the catalog does not label the entire repository as uniformly permissive open source.

Third-party components and external model services retain their own terms, independently of Mastra’s core and enterprise licensing.
