Research summary
loqui combines Kokoro text-to-speech through ONNX Runtime with optional Whisper speech recognition through whisper.cpp. Developers can embed its Rust engine directly, use command-line speech and transcription operations, or start a server exposing OpenAI-compatible audio endpoints. The server defaults to a Unix socket, with additional listener choices and authentication controls.
Model files are downloaded separately, pinned to revisions, and verified with hashes; offline operation is also supported. The project code is MIT-licensed, while model weights and dependencies have their own terms, including additional obligations for optional MP3 support.
