Inference & serving

LiteLLM

A shared model API available both as an embedded Python client and an operational gateway.

Overview

Research summary

LiteLLM lets applications call different language-model providers through a common interface, using either its Python library or a deployed proxy service. The gateway adds virtual keys, budgets, load balancing, fallbacks, logging integrations, and an administrative interface around upstream model APIs. Teams can change providers or route requests centrally without implementing each provider's request conventions throughout application code.

The repository's license grants MIT terms to the core while reserving separate terms for enterprise code when distributed. Hosted services and enterprise features should be evaluated separately from the core.
