Research summary

jcode is interesting less for another terminal chat interface than for its resource-conscious Rust runtime and explicit swarm architecture. Parallel workers can receive bounded tasks, exchange status, coordinate ownership and use Git worktrees to reduce interference. The project is therefore a useful comparison point for engines that need multi-agent concurrency without accepting the memory footprint of heavier JavaScript runtimes.

Its swarm model is particularly relevant where parallelism must be controlled rather than simulated through a single prompt. Worker assignments, communication and repository isolation become runtime data that can be inspected and constrained. That provides a concrete reference for conflict detection, cancellation, budgeting and result aggregation. Because those capabilities are implemented in a low-overhead native runtime, jcode is also useful when evaluating whether multi-agent execution necessarily requires a large resident process or heavyweight language runtime.
