GLM Agent

Research summary

GLM Agent is an independent TypeScript implementation of an ACP agent, not an official Z.AI coding product or a provider-neutral harness. It communicates with editors and other ACP clients over stdio, streams responses, and runs its own agent loop against Z.AI's Coding Plan chat endpoint. A local tool executor handles file reads, writes, directory listings, and shell commands, while web and image operations use Coding Plan-compatible MCP services.

Permission modes can require approval for edits and commands, automatically accept edits, or bypass prompts entirely. Sessions are persisted locally and can be loaded, resumed, or forked; supported clients can also switch GLM models per session and discover slash commands and skills stored in Claude-compatible directories. The principal limitation is intentional: it targets the Z.AI GLM Coding Plan and does not support general Z.AI Open Platform billing or arbitrary provider endpoints.

Apache-2.0 covers this community agent implementation, not the GLM models, API, or hosted Coding Plan service.
