Research summary

crow-cli is the agent component of the broader Crow ADE project, not the project's preferred editor client or its Zed fork. It runs interactively in a terminal, in one-shot CLI mode, or as an ACP server inside compatible editors. Its streaming ReAct loop can read and edit files, execute shell commands, search and fetch the web, accept multimodal input, cancel work, and compact conversations.

Sessions are stored locally in SQLite by default, with FTS5 search and PostgreSQL also supported; memory tools let agents query previous sessions and delegate against shared history. A bundled MCP server exposes coding, terminal, web, image, and memory tools, while additional MCP servers and skills are configured separately. Tool names are not namespaced, so third-party MCP integrations can collide with built-in names.

Licensing is version-sensitive: release v0.1.24 carries Apache-2.0, whereas the main branch identifies crow-cli as AGPL-3.0-or-later. The Python source is public, but the license attached to the exact release or branch being deployed must be checked.
