CodeBuddy Code is Tencent's terminal-oriented coding agent for conversational development tasks spanning code writing, testing, debugging, review, refactoring, and deployment workflows. It includes file editing, command execution, Git operations, and test execution, and can consume standard input or produce output suitable for shell pipelines and automation. Project understanding is supported by semantic repository search and layered CodeBuddy.md files that retain project, user, or enterprise instructions and knowledge across sessions.

It can operate as an MCP client or server and natively exposes itself as an ACP agent server for compatible editors. ACP clients may proxy file and terminal operations, receive applicable slash commands, and display multi-agent status events. Custom subagents have independent context windows, system prompts, model selection, tool restrictions, permission modes, skills, and optionally private MCP servers; they can be invoked explicitly or selected through delegation.

By default the security model is read-only and requests approval for edits, tests, and commands, with configurable allow rules and optional bash sandboxing. CodeBuddy Code is installed as an npm-distributed service client, but Tencent does not publish a corresponding implementation repository. Its service agreement grants a limited, revocable proprietary license and prohibits extracting or modifying the source, so Node.js distribution does not establish its internal implementation language.
