Cellar

Retrieves JVM API details from dependency artifacts and project classpaths in a format directly usable as coding-agent context.

Overview

Research summary

Cellar helps coding agents and developers inspect the public API of JVM dependencies from a terminal. It can look up individual symbols, list package members, search names, read published source and inspect dependency trees using Maven coordinates. Project-aware commands also work with classpaths from supported Scala build tools.

The output is Markdown that can be included in an agent's context, grounding generated code in the dependency's actual API. Cellar uses Coursier and tasty-query, with detailed Scala 3 support, Java class support and best-effort Scala 2 metadata handling. A Claude Code plugin exposes the same tool through an agent skill.
