AI security & guardrails

Amazon Bedrock Guardrails

Consistent managed guardrail policies across Bedrock and externally hosted model interactions.

Overview

Research summary

Amazon Bedrock Guardrails applies configurable safety and privacy policies to generative AI interactions. Teams can combine harmful-content filters, denied topics, word filters, sensitive-information handling and contextual grounding checks, then use the service with Bedrock models or call guardrail APIs for other model backends. The policies evaluate content and supply results that inform application behavior; they do not replace authentication, authorization or business rules around tools.

AWS manages the service and offers configuration through its console and APIs. This entry covers the commercial guardrails service, not the entire Amazon Bedrock platform or an open-source SDK.
